In 'Tarzan' actor Ron Ely's California residence A woman was found dead and suspect killed by police
A woman was found dead at the California residence of "Tarzan" actor Ron Ely and a suspect was killed in a shooting involving at least one sheriff's deputy Tuesday night, authorities said.
Authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing at the home of actor Ron Ely, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office received a call of a family dispute at the actor’s home in Hope Ranch, California, on Tuesday night, Lt. Erik Raney told CNN.
When they arrived, deputies located an elderly woman who had been stabbed to death, Raney said. Neighbors were told to stay in their homes and lock doors while authorities searched for the suspect.
Deputies discovered the body of an older woman about 8:15 p.m. at the home in the Hope Ranch area of Santa Barbara County while responding to a family disturbance call, Raney said.
“We don’t know exactly how many shots were fired. We did have several deputies that were involved in the shooting,” Lt. Erik Raney told KEYT. “Fortunately all of our deputies are OK.”
Deputies searched the area for a possible suspect, who was then killed in a deputy-involved shooting on the property, Raney said.
It is unclear at this time if the suspect is deceased. Police have not released the identities of the people in the home or information on a possible motive.
Ely, 81, is an actor and novelist best known for playing the lead character in the 1960s television series “Tarzan,” and for playing the title role in “Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze.”
Raney did not immediately return a phone call seeking more details early Wednesday.
The home is listed for sale on multiple real estate sites at $4.9 million.
