Firefighters Battle A 4-alarm Blaze In Two Buildings In Somerville, Massachusetts The blaze was reported at two buildings on Jackson Road some time before 3 a.m., according to firefighters. The Cambridge Fire Department said the inferno was scorching a 2 1/2-story wooden structure and a 3-story wooden structure.

Flames could be seen shooting from the third floor of a wood triple-decker at 37 Jackson Rd., in the Winter Hill neighborhood in Somerville, as firefighters tried to contain it. An adjacent building -  a 2 1/2 story wood frame home, is also affected.

The fire reached a second alarm shortly after 3 a.m., when crews from Cambridge responded to the blaze on Jackson Road in Somerville’s Winter Hill neighborhood, according to a series of tweets from the Cambridge Fire Department.

Several people are displaced after two homes caught fire in Somerville this morning. Multiple fire departments are battling the four alarm fire on Jackson Rd.

The fire quickly escalated to a four-alarm fire before 4 a.m., according to a Cambridge Fire Department tweet.

Injuries were not immediately reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
